"The Bullet Train"

I love taking the Shinkansen to Osaka. It’s fast, quiet and the scenery along the way is wonderful. Maybe one day there will be something like it in California; from Los Angeles to San Francisco!

In a few days Hirotaka Ogawa will join me and we’ll rehearse for a gig in Osaka on the 21st (see the flyer in the post below). I’m really looking forward to performing in my home town and seeing many old school friends. My parents will be there too. Read More→

Koto Musician Yukiko Matsuyama receives medal from Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki

In March 2011, Yukiko received a medal from the Japanese Ambassador, Ichiro Fujisaki, along with a letter congratulating her for recently being honored at the Grammy Awards. The medal reads: “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the United States of America”.

Yukiko Receives Grammy On Behalf Of Paul Winter

Yukiko had the honor of accepting the Grammy for Best New Age Album on
behalf of Paul Winter and The Paul Winter Consort for Miho: Journey
to the Mountain. She was joined on stage by Tibetan vocalist Yangin
Lamu who also performed on the CD.

In March of 2010 Yukiko traveled to the Shigaraki Mountains in Japan
where she recorded with The Paul Winter Consort. The spectacular Miho
Museum, designed by I.M. Pei, provided the setting for the sessions
which included the legendary Paul McCandless.
